Anxiety

The experience of anxiety is rarely one that we look forward to, especially when it becomes dominant, overwhelming, painful, or distressing. At the same time, anxiety is a function of the human brain that seeks to protect us and has held a significant role in our development as a species. Furthermore, research has demonstrated how important moderate amounts of anxiety are when we want to perform at our best and remain focused on important tasks.

So where do we draw the line? When does anxiety change from an experience that heightens our abilities and protects us to an experience that undermines our ability and overwhelms us? This section will explore how anxiety functions, how it can be helpful, and, how it can prevent us from living our lives.
