Silvia Violante

Counselling Psychologist

​Silvia is a nationally registered counselling psychologist. She works with adults and couples in her clinical practice. Silvia also has extensive experience in running psychological support and therapy groups, in addition to providing supervision to other clinicians. She is also an eligible provider for additional Medicare-funded sessions for pregnancy support. Silvia is fluent in both English and Spanish. Silvia strongly believes that therapy provides an opportunity for personal growth and aims to use a collaborative approach with clients to help her clients achieve their goals. She strives to provide her clients with effective tools and strategies to address their current challenges but also to achieve long-lasting changes.

  • Depressive disorders, including major depression and dysthymia. 

  • Anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety.

  • Academic stress.

  • Perinatal anxiety and depression.

  • Addictive disorders, including alcohol and substance misuse

  • Self-esteem and identity difficulties

  • Emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills

  • Relationship conflict

 

Therapeutic approaches:

Silvia will develop a tailored treatment plan for each client, informed by evidence-based therapy models such as:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Mindfulness-Based Approaches

  • Compassion Focused Therapy

Silvia enjoys regular exercise and practising informal mindfulness. She also enjoys spending time with her family, discovering local food and coffee gems. She is constantly seeking new places to explore in her travels.
